Yes … I have turned 20! AHHHH! It’s crazy that I can now I am in my 20’s … I really am not ready to be an adult yet .. and nor do I feel like one! My birthday was on the 10th of December and although it was an eventful day (spending most the time in hospital with my flatmate who hurt her ankle), I still had a lovely day and some wonderful gifts! I am one of those people who always thinks of stuff I want throughout the year but as soon as it comes to Christmas or my birthday, my mind goes blank and I can’t think of anything I want. So most of my presents are surprises which I actually quite like. Today, I thought I would share with you some things I got for my birthday. Please note I am not trying to show off, I just thought it could maybe inspire some of you with ideas to get friends for birthday’s or maybe helpful to give you a review of what I think 🙂
So, from my wonderful boyfriend I received a Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette which is insane! I was so chuffed to see that he had obviously been listening to me go on about my love for makeup and urban decay. I actually was very shocked that he had got me this palette as although he might not have known … but I really did want that palette but hadn’t brought myself to get it due to price and student money problems and stuff. Oh my gosh guys, the palette is gorgeous! I love doing my eye makeup so the next day we went out for a meal before I returned home for Christmas and I actually used the palette to see what it is like. The colours are fab and I think they are pigmented however, the only down side which I guess is the case with eyeshadow, is that there is some fall-out but I can live with that 🙂 As I am still new to palette I haven’t quite decided what eyeshadow look I like but I am excited to use it on Christmas day 🙂 I will be posting a Christmas day makeup look and outfit look on our Instagram so if you want to follow us (as we are re-making our instagram) our tag is @e.mundane 🙂 Not only did I get the palette which was more than enough, he also got me a Ukulele haha! This may sound a bit strange but I was actually really excited about this. I used to play the violin but quit as I hated the exams and hated the pressure. Recently, my flatmate and I were chilling in her room and started jamming out whilst she played the guitar. Then she said I should play the Ukulele, so I gave it a try and it reminded me of how much I love music and love singing so ever since then I wanted to try learning an instrument again. It is such a funky instrument the Ukulele and not too difficult to pick up with practice. I am so excited to play it and learn some tunes on it, that’s if I can pry it out of my dads hands who thinks he’s a music wiz … he’s not! Hahah! But yeh, my boyfriend did a great job, he went above and beyond when all I wanted was him so thanks babe!
Next I got a light up mirror and some real technique brushes which I was extremely excited about. I love doing my makeup, as mentioned previously, and I use the real technique brushes. I used to be really up-tight about people who had lots of brushes as I could not see the need to have like 5 of every brush. But as I have been collecting new makeup products and becoming more interested in makeup looks, I can definitely see the appeal in having lots of brushes as I’m constantly using different palettes that have different colours and having more eyeshadow brushes and face brushes would definitely help. My mum did a good job at picking them out for me. They are the face brushes so the highlighter fan brush, the angled contour brush and the concealer brush. All brushes that I don’t currently have! I am so excited to use them! Although I definitely need to wash my brushes. I went to get some Clinique makeup the other day and the lady said I should be washing my brushes once a week …. whoops!!
I also got given from my besties, spectrum brushes (ahhh) and the Hoola bronzer (oh my gosh)! Hana got me the bronzer and some fabulous body shop products (I am obsessed with body shop). The hand creams are legit so nice. They sink into my skin leaving them feel so soft and nice cause around this time my hands always get really dry which is a bit annoying but this hand cream has definitely helped and its only been like 2 days since I have been using them! Also I am so excited to use the bronzer. I have wanted it for so long, she’s such a gem for getting it for me 🙂 Love you Hana 😉
Along with some money and chocolates, I got given a really sentimental gift which I always like receiving. My Grandma gave me my Great Grandma’s welsh gold ring! It is so beautiful. My Great Grandad bought it for my Great Grandma and when they sadly passed away it was passed down to my Grandma who gave it to me on my birthday. I really really love the ring and the sentimental value it holds makes it even more wonderful. I hope to keep this ring and wear it on my right hand until hopefully one day, if I have a daughter, I can pass it down to her and she can pass it down to her family and so on.
I was so lucky this year and received some very thoughtful gifts which I honestly did not expect. I really just wanted to celebrate my birthday with the people I love and was able to celebrate my 20th birthday with some wonderful people. I am so thankful for everyone in my life and all you guys who are subscribed to our blog and take time out to read it because I would not be the person who everyone celebrated with me, without you all in my life and that means so much to me. It really should have been me celebrating the people in my life as without them I would be lost and would not have become the person I am today without the love and support they continue to give me.
Thanks for all you guys and your support on this blog means a lot and I really hope that you all flourish and achieve your dreams. Be thankful for the people in your life and what you have rather than wishing away your life on things you don’t have 🙂 Its the things and people you have today that will make you the person you will become in the future and thats a beautiful thing so cherish those close to you and remember to tell them how thankful you are for them 🙂
Have a great Christmas everyone and may you all get wonderful things and have a great day filled with happiness and joy 🙂
P.S. Sorry it got a bit soppy at the end 🙂
